Economic Growth and Opportunity

  • Support policies that attract businesses, create jobs, and foster innovation in Michigan’s key industries, including manufacturing, technology, and agriculture. For instance, we endorse initiatives like those championed by Representative Haley Stevens (D-MI 11th District), who has advocated for advanced manufacturing and workforce training programs to revitalize Michigan’s industrial base. Her work on the CHIPS and Science Act has helped secure federal funding to boost semiconductor production in Michigan, creating high-wage jobs.
  • Advocate for workforce development programs to equip Michiganders with skills for the modern economy. We support models like the Michigan Reconnect program, backed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, which provides tuition-free community college to adults over 25, helping 30,000+ Michiganders gain skills for in-demand fields like healthcare and IT since 2020.
  • Promote infrastructure investments to improve transportation, broadband access, and urban-rural connectivity. Inspired by bipartisan efforts in the Michigan Legislature, such as the 2022 budget allocating $2 billion for road repairs and rural broadband expansion, we back candidates who prioritize infrastructure as a catalyst for economic equity across regions like the Upper Peninsula and Flint.

Social Progress and Equity

  • Endorse initiatives that address affordable housing, healthcare access, and education equity to ensure every Michigander has a fair shot at success. We align with leaders like Representative Debbie Dingell (D-MI 6th District), who has pushed for affordable housing policies and expanded healthcare access, including mental health services, in response to Michigan’s housing shortage, where 190,000 units are needed to meet demand.
  • Support criminal justice reforms that prioritize rehabilitation, fairness, and community safety. Drawing from Michigan’s 2018 bipartisan passage of “Raise the Age” legislation, which ensured 17-year-olds are treated as juveniles in the justice system, we advocate for candidates who pursue reforms that reduce recidivism and promote restorative justice, as seen in pilot programs in Wayne County.
  • Champion policies that protect Michigan’s environment while balancing economic needs. We support efforts like those of Senator Elissa Slotkin (D), who has secured funding for Great Lakes cleanup and renewable energy projects, reflecting Michigan’s commitment to sustainability while preserving jobs in agriculture and manufacturing. Her work has contributed to $500 million in federal grants for environmental restoration since 2023.

Good Governance

  • Back candidates who prioritize transparency, accountability, and collaboration across party lines. We admire the approach of Representative Hillary Scholten (D-MI 3rd District), who has emphasized bipartisan solutions for issues like veterans’ services and small business support, earning her a reputation as a consensus-builder in a historically Republican-leaning district.
  • Advocate for common-sense reforms to streamline government processes and reduce partisan gridlock. Michigan’s 2018 voter-approved independent redistricting commission, which redrew fairer electoral maps, exemplifies the kind of reform we support to ensure representation reflects the will of the people, not partisan interests.
  • Encourage civic engagement and voter access to strengthen Michigan’s democratic process. We endorse policies like the 2018 Proposal 3, backed by a coalition of moderates, which expanded early voting and same-day registration, increasing voter turnout by 10% in urban areas like Grand Rapids and Lansing in 2020.
